Ann Marie Bartz
First Grade

I am thrilled to be starting my tenth year at Nativity of Mary! I absolutely love teaching first grade.  Prior to coming to Nativity, I taught 2nd grade and kindergarten at Our Lady of Grace in Edina   I live in Eden Prairie with my wonderful husband and three great kids!  Danny (21) attends the University of Minnesota,  Cally (17) is a senior at the Academy of Holy Angels and Sophia (6) is a kindergarten student at Nativity.  I love to vacation with my family, read and shop!  I look forward to sharing my love of books, learning and Faith with my fabulous first graders.

First Grade Information

Homebooks
Each night your first grader will bring home a book to read for homework.  The book will be in a large plastic baggie.  A sheet for you to sign will be in the baggie too.  Please return the book and the baggie each day to school.  The goal is to fill up the reading sheet. This is a very important component to our reading philosophy.  You will be amazed at the progress your child will make in reading when they read each night.

Folders
Your child will have one folder in their backpack each day they come home from school.  Please check the folder daily and take out the papers in it.  Please place the folder back in the backpack.  If you have special notes for me or the office, place them in the folder. Thank you so much!
Birthdays
Birthdays are so special and exciting!  Your child may bring in pencils, stickers etc. to share with the class, if they choose.  We also love to have the parents come in and read to the class. Summer birthdays can celebrate their half birthday or celebrate in May.  I will contact you a few days before your child's special day.  Birthdays are celebrated at 3:10 in the afternoon.

Each Monday I will be sending home the Sneak Peek at the Week. This will have all of the information that we have covered during that particular week.  I may also list concepts that will be coming up.  There may be a week or two that I will not send the note home due to a short week etc.  A reading group note will be sent home every Monday.  I am thrilled to be your child's teacher.  Please contact me anytime with questions or concerns.
