This month, we are learning with themes that help children get a taste of the fun activities we do at school. While learning about one another and our families, we talk about feelings and how God made us all unique! The first week we are using colors to experiment with different art mediums, tie in emotions and feelings, and identify colors in the 2-day class.
Soon we will be doing some farm-themed activities to kick-off our fall activities. This time of year has many fun lessons and centers to incorporate. Apples, pumpkins, and leaves are a few fall favorites!
Your child is growing up quickly, and before you know it, he will be marching into kindergarten and singing her way to first grade! Your child's foundation for academic success starts now. In our classroom, I design an environment that is intentional and engaging for students to further develop:
- Personal & Social Skills
- Language & Literacy
- Mathematical Thinking
- Scientific Thinking
- Social Studies
- The Arts (as an expression & representation)
- Physical & Spiritual Health
Our classroom environment is designed to give children the best preschool experience by including materials and resources to meet early learning standards. Lesson plans are created with Minnesota's Early Learning Standards in focus. Although some lessons may focus on one or two of these standards, so many more are being met through our schedule and daily interactions. Your child is beginning to take new steps in approaching problems and creating meaningful learning experiences every day.
Both classes will be participating in fun apple activities beginning the week of September 25th. Making apple sauce, and graphing our favorite kinds of apples are two of my favorite activities because students love getting involved in these learning adventures!
If you could, would you please bring in a few apples to school on the 25th and 26th? We use them for many different things throughout the week, so your donation is appreciated! Yellow, green, or red, all apples are needed!
Please send your child's preschool folder to school each day. This is a great way for projects and work to get home safely, your child to develop independence in the classroom, and a great way for you to communicate with me/send in any papers to the office.
Scholastic Book Orders
Information was sent home about setting up a Scholastic account to order books for your student. Monthly orders will be placed at the end of each month. Scholastic offers GREAT deals on books to add to your library at home and give back to our school library through each order. Our next order will be placed on September 29th. Log on to check out the great deals waiting for you and your family.
